My name is Zahra Kara. I have been a Montessori teacher for the past twelve years. I trained at Canadian Montessori Teacher Education Institute (CMTEI) to become MACTE (Montessori accreditation council for teacher education) certified in the Montessori method. During that period, I have had the pleasure of working with numerous children from the ages of 2 to 7 years and have been constantly rewarded and gratified by the accomplishments of my students over this time.
Friends of mine will be the first to tell you that I am also a huge enthusiast when it comes to the Montessori method, so much so that I am in the process of getting my certification with the CMTEI as a Master Teacher. The certification allows me to train the next generation of Montessori Teachers. To date, under the tutelage of a mentor, I have trained over 80 new teachers in the method.
My passion for Montessori was first ignited by the results I saw in my own three children who attended Montessori schools. At the time when I sent them to a Montessori school, I knew very little about this method of education. Like most parents, I felt the urge to ensure my children were enrolled in programs that provided childcare and a safe learning environment, but beyond that, I had no idea what to expect. I can say that my reaction to their experience was amazement at how relaxed and joyful they seemed. I still remember the day when my daughter was 5 years old, she came home from school and recited her multiplication tables with ease and excitement.
I would like to think that I am humble, and probably like most people do not feel naturally comfortable promoting myself, but as a parent, I can only speak for the experience my children had with their teachers.
If you would like to hear what parents have to say about my teaching style, please read the testimonials section at the bottom of this page.
Since becoming certified as a Montessori Teacher I have always thought of what it might be like to have my own Montessori centre, but until recently it has only ever been an idea. I am pleased to announce that I have formed Peace Garden Montessori where I will serve as the centre’s primary teacher.
Peace Garden Montessori will be operated out of my home in the beautiful community of Stonehaven in Newmarket Ontario.
